$6,100 For A Watermelon In Japan

It weights just 8kg and its worth $6,100. The Densuke watermelon which originates from the Hokkaido, was sold in an auction for a record 650,000 yen (US$6,100), making it the most expensive watermelon in the world. The guy who bought it said he did so to support local agriculture. Watermelons may be scarce in Japan, hence a luxury item for most, but the amount paid for this one is just too much. Usual supermarket prices for these watermelons are $188 to $283.
