It seems that big cities around the world are adding new and interesting attractions. New York is one of those cities and the latest attraction for tourists from around the world would be…waterfalls! Of course we are not referring to the New York State, which hosts Niagara Falls, but the ones that they are going to artificially create in East River and New York Harbor. This feat will cost about $10 million and they will be operational some time in late June till October this year.

Earthquake Prediction Techniques for Greece and the World

February 15, 2008 · Filed Under Living, News · 2 Comments

Greece has been shaking up recently by earthquake after earthquake. Yesterday the 4th earthquake within 1.5 months (see previous 1, 2, 3), of a 6.5 magnitude had an epicenter south of the city of Kalamata.

This seismic activity has been scientifically predicted by the V.A.N team of Professor P. A. Varotsos of the University of Athens, Greece. Unfortunately the Greek governments (past and present) tend to dismiss scientific evidence. Maybe this is because government officials are using other, more accurate and alternative techniques. So I made a search to find such alternative techniques that may not be explained by science.

Sun, oh glorious sun!

This first case managed to predict the latest Greek earthquake 6 days earlier! They used a method unheard before that predicted the 6.5 magnitude earthquake. This method does not require expensive equipment, only a roof, a digital watch and as much sunshine as possible. What is being observed? Any slight change in earths orbit during its rotation is caused by lava and tectonic plate movement. Based on this theory many amateur earthquake observers try to calculate these orbit changes by looking at the position of the sun and hence try to locate the earthquakes epicenter.

Snakes

Chinese researchers of the Nanning seismologic center discovered that the snake behavior up to five days before an earthquake tends to be a bit bizarre. Specifically there are cases where snakes started to hit on walls in an attempt to escape earthquakes that might have been up to 120 km away. It is well known that animals do have an acute sense of things and especially vibrations. It was found that snakes even during the winter (snakes sleep during winter) they wake up and leave the nest when they felt an incoming earthquake. Hence a 24 hour camera surveillance system was set up to monitor the snake reactions hoping to become an accurate earthquake prediction technique.

Charlotte King - Biological predictions (!)

On the 18th of May 1980 a woman notified experts that something was not right. Within 12 minutes the volcano of St. Helena in Washington state, US, erupted. What happened next?c-king As with all things American she ended up in numerous shows and also became the study of many expert doctors and the US military. All of them were amazed to find that Charlotte since 1976 had started to be able to listen to ULF, VLF and ELF frequencies. In total 4 US states studies this phenomenon called Charlotte. This was not the first time that Charlotte predicted an earthquake but since then her name got major publicity. So now she continues her work and according to her between the dozens of earthquakes that she predicted we can find even the one that devastated Athens in 1999. She even has a blog in which she presents her worries about global earthquake prediction.

Antigravity boots

antigravity

This is a new gadget that will offer you a unique experience, but you need to tolerate all the weird looks form the people that pass you by in the street wondering about your mental state!

These antigravity boots are the most economic (at the moment) thing to make you feel how it is on the surface of the moon or something. You do not actually fly but your footsteps are lighter and you can hop around.

Their price is 95 GBP…if you are interested.

Nevertheless Zara in the video below did not manage to experience the antigravity effect :(
