Amnesty International For China & Olympic Games

Amnesty International released yesterday some viral animations (you can find them at the bottom of the post) highlighting the repression of peaceful protesters and the case of Huang Qi, a cyber-dissident who runs the www.64tianwang.com website. Huang Qi has been detained since 10 June when several men found him at a restaurant in Chengdu and forced him into a vehicle and too him and two of his organization volunteers,

Since then there no news of him and it is believed that he is in a very high risk of torture.
The number 64 on his web address is referring to the 4th day of the 6h month of 1989 when the authorities turned their guns onto peacefull protesters in Tiananmen Square.

On this post you also see some ads of Amnesty International calling to remember the human rights after the Olympics. The moto is “After the Olympic Games, the fight for human rights must go on.”
2008 Pins On His Head For The Olympic Games

How are you planning to celebrate the 2008 Olympic Games? The Chinese guy, Dr. Wei Sheng, in the picture above decided to place 2008 pins on his head, with all Olympic colours. Not sure if it hurts or not but I do expect to see a lot more “shows” as such relating to the Olympic Game celebration.

Beijing Airport: The Biggest In The World

China officially opened the gates to the biggest airport in the world, The cost reached $3.8 billion and it is now ready to welcome the millions of tourists that will visit the Olympic games. Last year alone Beijing Airport had 53.5 million visitors where as the predictions were for only 35 millions.
With this new achievement China not only takes a first but also create a monument of modern aesthetics designed by the British architect Norman Foster.
Artificial islands now in Russia?

I think this thing with luxury resorts in artificial islands has started to look a bit ridiculous. A lot of countries have started to imitate Dubai, such as Holland with their tulip island, and now Russia enters the game.
For the sake of the 2014 winter Olympics, Russian decided to build in the Black sea a set of islands that will have the shape…of Russia!
It will be next to the city of Sochi and their construction lies on Japanese hands.
A total of 10 islands, totaling 3,500 square meters of land will accommodate the Olympic village as well as some other Olympic buildings. The estimated cost of this comes up to $2.5 billion!
