NASA’s Phoenix arrived on Mars on May 25th in order to spend a 3 month journey searching for ice (water) and proof of primitive life forms. Well yesterday Phoenix dug up something strange, it found a layer of white substance a few inches underneath Mars’ red soil. Scientists believe its not ice but may be some sort of salt and hope that ice might be found beneath it.

Update: NASA now believes that the white material might have been ice as after four days is disappeared (evaporated). Read the report here.

Who would ever imagine that you can get paid to stay in bed? Well the times have changed and it is NASA who is offering money, about $17,000 for 90 days in bed!

This is part of a NASA experiment regarding the effects of microgravity on the human body. The tests will run at the Human Test Subject Facility in Johnson Space Center.

Its not going to be all fun there, you will have to spend 16 hours being awake (in bed) and 8 sleeping. During this 80 day long experiment you have to stay lied down, slightly tilted downward (with the feet up).

Participants will spend 90 days lying in bed, (except for limited times for specific tests) with their body slightly tilted downward (head down, feet up). Every day, they will be awake for 16 hours and lights out (asleep) for 8 hours.

Papernauts: Send Your Name To The Moon

nasa-certificate

NASA’s new service is here to take anyone to the moon! Anyone can qualify as age, physical abilities or other issues are now in the past. But there is a small problem, only your name can go to the next lunar mission!

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) is set to go and collect data for future possible landing and outpost sites for the Constellation program. It is going to carry a chip, with peoples names, and float around the universe for ever as the LRO will never return to Earth. The good thing is that you will be entitled to a nice NASA certificate that shows that your name is somewhere out there!
