Zemanta is simply amazing. All you have to do is download this program, install it and go on blogging as usual. This little tool changes your display by adding a Zemanta menu that searches the internet for similar posts to the one you are writing and in this way you can find info, tags, pictures etc. and add them to your post.

At the moment it works with Firefox only and it supports Wordpress (hosted), Blogger and Typepad. It works better when you write in English than other languages but am sure this will change in the future. See below a print screen of an article that I wrote earlier regarding the Emo war in Mexico, and Zemanta found for me in other blogs, some pictures of Mexico.

It is worth a try. Especially is you are blogging in English :) See the video below for more info

Emo War In Mexico

Strange times in Mexico for the Emo. The Anti-Emo have declared a war against them and attacks are constantly reported in Mexico and Guadalajara. The situation seems to be out of hand as the government had to make a public announcement and call both sides to unity! The enemy of Emo’s in Mexico are apparently all other groups of youths.

The reason that youths are against them is that Emo do not live like normal youngsters. Emo do not drink, laugh, they become emotional, cry etc.

The Mexican Emo do not sit down and do nothing. They organize protests in the streets and try to preserve their right to express them self’s the way they want to.

See a video from the Mexican TV.

Buy your own number from 1 to 1000

January 15, 2008 · Filed Under News, Odd · Comment

Well this is a once chance in a life time, your chance to buy your own number from 1 to 1000. Simply pick the number you want (if it is still available) and few days later receive it through post!

Onethousandpaintings is the company behind this and what they offer is simple:

One thousand numbers = one thousand paintings. All beautifully painted on canvas (approx. 12 x 12 x 1.5 inches). Each number is unique - the number and the demand define the price. A piece of Internet art history“.

404

Calculating the price for the number you want is a bit tricky they do not have all the same price. Here is the price calculator as stated from the official site:

Price = 1000 - number.
Initial discount: 90%.
Current discount: 20%.
The discount will decrease by an absolute 10% for every 100 paintings sold.
Min. price: $40″.

i.e. number 316 will set you back $547.20, but what the heck you will have something that none else in the world will have! From this calculation I assume that number 1000 must have been free or something!!

If you are interested hurry up because they already have sold 762 numbers. Do have in mind that they ship the numbers only to:

Paintings have been sold to the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, China, Singapore, Mexico, Brasil, South Africa, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Kyrgyzstan, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Portugal, and Israel.

Good luck!

New US e-passports with RFID

passport

Apparently the US government in an effort to speed up the security checks in airports, decided to implement a system with RFID tags on passports readable from 20 feet away. This will benefit those traveling from the US to areas near by such as Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean and it will come in effect some time in spring 2008. Even though this system is designed to benefit passengers, many fear that the RFID tags may become readable by”others” with the purpose of cloning passports or identity theft.

There are some that will tell you that you should hammer the RFID chip on your passport and destroy not only that but also to protect your personal data. Something tells me that this is not legal and if the police finds out you might end in trouble. There is a legal method to protect your self and that is by a RFID passport protector/blocker found. More on the passport covers here.
