We all know that when you add oil to water, it rises to the surface. A company in Japan, called Water Fryer decided to exploit this physical effect and add some water and a goldfish, at the bottom of a fryer.

As they state the oil’s high temperature does not affect the fish and that it also gets fed by the crumbles a potatoes bits that mgiht find their way down.

Of course if the gold fish tries to immitate Prison Break then the restaurant clients will get an extra treat!

The need to stop human addiction to oil is leading to new and interesting ways of vehicle propulsion. One of these methods exploits the movement of the waves (via two fins under the bow) to propel the boat forward. To test this system, Ken’ichi Horie from Japan started a journey with his modified boat from Hawaii. His destination was Cape of Hinomisaki, Japan, a 6,400 km journey that lasted 109 days. His boat, Suntory Mermaid II, is a 31 foot vessel that is made from recycled aluminum.

They must have something with robots in Japan. They are making robots do almost anything these days. The latest contraption is an elephantine e’pissoir. A robot designed to clean urinals in places like airports rest areas and other public toilets. it is supposed to be ecological in the sense that is saves a lot of water cleaning the toilets this way and that its easier to handle. Its hard to imagine a 100kg robot to be easy to handle but they must know best.

Advertising strategies have evolved in time and there is nothing to reming as of the good, old, innocent days…

The evil minds behind the PC game “Married Women Harem: This is the Married Women Paradise Inn” found a very interesting way to promote the game in Japan. The visitors of the fifth floor of the Sofmap megastor will meet the life size replica of a pair of sexy boobs that you can see on the photo above. A sign urges visitors to “Squeeze all they want” and if they want they can fill out a preorder form that, right next to the doll :) They must give us some video footage! soon! :)

In 1928 Makoto Nishimura, a biologist, build the Gakutensoku robot for the celebrations of Emperor Hirohito (Showa) ascension to the throne. This automaton used a compressed air system of inflatable rubber tubes to move its eyes, smile, cheeks and chest. The robot travelled to many places and impressed the crowds at that time with its calligraphy skills until it disappeared in Germany. 80 years later this 3.2 meter (10 ft 6 in) tall, golden-skinned humanoid, from Osaka, received a $200,000 brand new computer controlled pneumatic servo system.

3d-menu-1

The whole world is looking with great interest the photos of a table with a 3D touchscreen which was published by ScoutJapan. As the site said, restaurant customers can navigate through various dishes.

This table has another interesting function. If for instance you pick up a burger bun then you will see underneath the contents of a cheesburger!

3d-menu-2

Till now there are no videos of this specific table and the photos can not show you the whole story. Since this table is based on monitors made by TEC Japan (Toshiba) I assume that this will be based on a screen that they presented on CEATEC about 1.5 years ago. See the video below.
