Today is the day that not only Firefox 3 is officially released but its also the day that everybody is trying to break Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded on a single day. So go on, download the new browser from here, and take part in something big.

The latest update said:

Mozilla.com web traffic is pushing well over 2 Gigabits a second of just pure HTTP traffic. That is in addition to the 13 Gigabits a second or so of download traffic. We are still at around 14,000 download/minute and mozilla.com is responding well! Go Mozilla community and IT team!

Update: Firefox claims that 8 million copies downloaded in the first 24 hours and so far 14 million people have downloaded the new version. The official response from the Guinness people is not out but you can monitor the stats here.

Update 2: Guinness officials accepted Mozilla?s final count of 8,002,530 downloads (first 24 hours)

Regular updates of the downloading progress you can reed here.

Finally, after months (or years?) of waiting, the 3rd service pack for Windows Vista is out. You can download the .exe file here. Microsoft hasn’t add the link to Windows Download page yet but it seems that the file is already there. I have already begun to download the update and I will keep you informed if there are any issues with it (Yes I still use XP!). Having used Windows Vista I have to say that I think Windows XP is much more stable.

This was not expected not even by the most pessimist people out there. It seems that the BETA version of Internet Explorer 8 is full of problems.

According to various blogs if you try to access the windows update page with Internet Explorer 8 then you will experience a small problem as it tells you that you need to have Internet Explorer 5 or a newer version…

Anyway, this is a BETA version so it is forgiven …for now :)

Microsoft has opened the gates for the new Internet Explorer, 8. The first beta edition of this browser is aimed for Web Developers and Designers. In other words unless you have a serious reason do not download it because you might experience some problems.

The Internet Explorer 8 promises better security and faster navigation. It also introduces two new concepts, the Activities and the Web slices.

The activities is a menu with which you can connect a text from the webpage you are watching with external applications (ie you can select and address from the activity menu and go see it on the map).

The Web Slices is a service where you can choose a part of the webpage (ie a list of recent Weberence posts) and monitor this part through the links bar of the i.e.
