Doctors in San Diego, California, have managed to perform a non-invasive appendectomy. This was accomplished by inserting a flexible tube inside a persons mouth and down its stomach. A cut was then made to access the appendix. The appendix is then cut off, bagged and extracted via the mouth. The only side effect is a sore throat! The lucky patient that holds this medical first, is a former US Marine named Jeff Scholtz. This operation benefits from faster recovery and absence of exterior incisions

Bureaucracy kills hope…everywhere

Four months ago a little girl was born in Samoa with total face deformation. The doctors told the parents that they cannot do anything and they should let it die. The parents though could not do that to their child so they started feeding it in secrecy trying to keep it alive.

This story brought the attention of the public who has already donated 60,000 euros , not only from Samoa but also from New Zealand for, so that she can get an operation. The family’s plans to save this little girl were spoiled from the New Zealand government who decided not to grant a visa for her operation saying that this will not save her!

This story is now known all over the world and I think the weight of the peoples opinions may persuade the New Zealand government to give this family a hope. I am not sure what is the logic behind denying a visa to a 4 month old baby, especially knowing that the citizens of New Zealand are the ones who made the biggest contribution to save the little girl.
