Today I learned two things. First the new Cuban president allows his citizens to have electronic equipment and second is that till now it was not allowed. Only companies and foreigners were allowed to have a TV and a computer. All DVD’s were held in customs.

The new president made this move, according to Reuters, to bring his people closer to him. Every Cuban can now own a Plasma TV and if they survive the cultural shock then they can try buying a computer.

To get an Air Condition they need to wait a bit due to the high demand in electricity.

Darren Nixon was walking carelessly from his work on his way home. While going home he was listening songs with his favorite Philips mp3 player. Unfortunately he was spotted by a technologically "challenged" old lady.

Seeing Darren taking his mp3 from his pocket to change songs the old lady, as a concerned citizen, thought she saw a gun and called the police to notify them about a dangerous gun wielding criminal.

The police tracked down the suspect from road security cameras and within few minutes armed policemen approached him in order to disarm him.

Darren kept walking and listening to music regardless of the police mobilization around him. Suddenly he saw police men talking and aiming gun at him. He reached for his pocket to reduce the music volume and the police officers got enraged, because they thought he was reaching for a gun. To his good fortune they did not shoot immediately but instead they just arrested him, (took his mug shoot, fingerprinted him etc) Of course now he is free to tell his incredible tale :)
