OGC Logo For Dirty Minds

“There are no dirty words, just dirty minds.” Or in this case, dirty logos!
The Telegraph has a very interesting article today. The Office of Government Commerce decided to spend some money to create a new logo. After £14,000 were spent, the new logo which signifies “a bold commitment to the body?s aim”, became public. It seems though that when the logo is tilted sideways at 90 degrees angle the idea of “improving value for money by driving up standards and capability in procurement” is lost!
A spokesman for OGC said:
“It is true that it caused a few titters among some staff when viewed on its side, but on consideration we concluded that the effect was generic to the particular combination of the letters OGC - and it is not inappropriate to an organisation that?s looking to have a firm grip on Government spend

So what do you see in the picture?

Belgium Coke & Mentos Event For The Guinness Book

In an earlier article, here in Weberence, we showed you what will happen if you throw a Mentos mint inside a Coca Cola bottle. It seems that pupils in the local schools in the town of Leuven, Belgium, wanted to find out if it really works. So about 1500 pupils gathered around in Ladeuzeplein square wore their rain coats and took part in the biggest Coke & Mentos event and probably earned a place in the Guinness book.
The out come was quite impressive as it can be seen the video below![]()

Zemanta: It Knows What You Are Blogging

Zemanta is simply amazing. All you have to do is download this program, install it and go on blogging as usual. This little tool changes your display by adding a Zemanta menu that searches the internet for similar posts to the one you are writing and in this way you can find info, tags, pictures etc. and add them to your post.
At the moment it works with Firefox only and it supports Wordpress (hosted), Blogger and Typepad. It works better when you write in English than other languages but am sure this will change in the future. See below a print screen of an article that I wrote earlier regarding the Emo war in Mexico, and Zemanta found for me in other blogs, some pictures of Mexico.

It is worth a try. Especially is you are blogging in English

Alienation From Society: Growing With Animals

This must be one of the most terrifying experiences known to man. As I was browsing for interesting stories I had a look at an article from Pravda which tells the story of a kid that was found a few days ago in Russia and its nicknamed (Bird Boy)The 7 year old was living with his 31 year old mother in the city of Volgograd in a 2 room flat. The mother did not speak to the kid (obviously she had a problem) and the only thing she did was to take care of the birds that were in her house.
The kid slowly started to communicate with these birds and this made the doctors amazed at this.
Its not the only case where a human is alienated completely from society and ends up communicating with animals. Again in Russia some time ago a 9 year old boy was communicating with dogs.
I searched to find a relative video to see if they had such a case filmed. I found the following video of a 27 year old girl from Cambodia who lived for 18 years lost in the jungle and was trying to survive with wild animals.
CNN’s iReport

Few days ago I wrote an article regarding the iReport.com domain that was sold to CNN for $750,000 (from the Domain King).
Today the beta edition of iReport opened its gates and CNN paved the way to the future. Below is a copy from the site’s welcome:
Welcome to a brand new beta site for unfiltered, uncensored user-powered news. CNN is providing the tools. You take it from there! Report, upload and comment on the stories you find most interesting and important. The views, coverage and content on the site are all yours - not CNN’s! So, go ahead, have at it!
I do not have to stress how important this is especially when it is backed up by the biggest news network in the world. Many of the videos that users upload to the site will be used by CNN (free material). For more see iReport.com
Till now I have not managed to play any videos, maybe its because its still in beta version. Also what is noticeable is that the embed option is missing, and hopefully not intentionally.
Bill Gates Is Off His Facebook

Today an article from the Sun informs us that Bill Gates could no longer keep up with his Facebook account on a daily basis since over 8,000 made friend requests. As the article tells us Bill was spending half an hour each day just to handle his account. Its not only this that made him abandon Facebook, its also that a huge number of odd groups had been created and asked him to participate.
In fact the Sun hosts statements form a colleague of Bill Gates who said that “Sadly the attention does mean Bill has had to close the account which got him so hooked in the first place?.
What strikes an impression to me is that an account under the name “Bill Gates” in Microsoft’s closed network is active. I am not sure if Sun made a mistake or if the person who closed his account is another “Bill Gates”.
