It seems that the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) scheme has found a major rival. Academics from the Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) and the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras) have started work to create a $10 laptop for poor kids. If it is successful then it will be a major blow to the OLPC scheme that has reached a cost of $188 per device as opposed to the $100 it was initially advertised.
