Time Warner Cable in Beaumont, Texas, decided to make a pioneering (?) step towards Internet charging. They knew that some people out there only use the Internet for checking emails and contact details where as others do heavy useage by downloading movies and songs. So instead of having both user categories paying tha same price and getting the same service, they came up with the idea of charging users per byte. This new plan is not so much to help small time users by paying less, its actually a plan to curb the internet usage of the heavy users.

Internet metering will affect millions, if it is enforced, and many companies that deliver their service online (video games, Blockbuster etc) believe that this will reduce their business.

What do you think about this move?
