MODU: The Revolution in Mobile Telephony?

How often do you buy mobile phones? Every year? Ever six months? Every day? I think that there are few people out there that are not into changing phones all the time in order to follow the technological advancements.
This is exactly where Dov Moran, the man behind USB flash Drives, is aiming with his latest gadget in cooperation with the Israeli company MODU mobile.

MODU (from modular) is a mobile phone “core” which works like an ordinary mobile phone but with the exemption that it can “wear” special jackets which will carry all latest tech developments. In other words instead of paying again and again to get an entire cell phone, we will simply buy the extras in the form of an external case. Its size is pretty small 72mm x 37mm x 7.8mm and its weight is only 40.1 grams which makes it the worlds smallest mobile phone.
Modu on its own will cost 200 euros where as each jacket will cost between 20 to 60 euros and offer a different function and look on your phone. There are many cell phone companies that have displayed interest and also companies that might be potentially compatible with such a device (?mates?).

Blaupunkt is one of those companies and wants to make modu compatible with their sound systems. In October its going to be available in the market and depending who is going to cooperate with the Israeli company will determine if this little gadget changes out lifestyle.
