Qtrax - At last a FREE and LEGAL P2P for MP3 songs
Sunday, January 27, 2008 16:03

For years now the record companies are battling all those that want to download, for free, music files. So they decided to try an alternative solution.
Its called Qtrax and it is the first P2P application that allows the free distribution of songs and aims to make a profit from advertising.
The Qtrax list has over 25,000,000 songs and all of them have DRM and are compatible with a range of players. Qtrax is based on Songbird and it can run as a Firefox plugin.
For the moment it is not compatible with iPod but from what they say it is going to become soon.

There are three song categories in Qtrax. The first (black list) has songs that their creators forbid their distribution from Qtrax (a list that continuously gets smaller since more people get persuaded to join). The second (white) list has songs that we find other such services like itune. And finally the third (gray) list, where you can find sngs that do not exist in other services.
You can go and fill in your details and get informed when the first beta version of Qtrax is available.
