No fortune cookies at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

The fortune cookies that we all know and have in every Chinese restaurant that we go are not Chinese. As Jennifer Lee in her New York Times research, the Fortune Cookies are actually Japanese. For some reason Americans (and most of the rest of the world) have connected them to China. Specifically Jennifer reports that fortune cookies are famous in many countries but they are unknown in China!
