US Congress Archives on FlickR

US congress vast photo archive is set to be available on FlickR in an attempt to get the public to comment on the pictures and perhaps provide further information. The archive has more than 14,000,000 photos and I am not sure when the uploading of them all gets completed. For the time being the program is still in an early pilot stage with only 2 albums.
This move called ?The Commons? is also a call to the world community to give access to countless files and records from all organizations in a common effort to preserve information and historical evidence.
In most cases it is unknown if there are any copyright issues here as the majority of the photos are not owned by congress. So next to the photos we will see a label stating ?No known copyright restrictions?.
