Artificial islands now in Russia?

I think this thing with luxury resorts in artificial islands has started to look a bit ridiculous. A lot of countries have started to imitate Dubai, such as Holland with their tulip island, and now Russia enters the game.
For the sake of the 2014 winter Olympics, Russian decided to build in the Black sea a set of islands that will have the shape…of Russia!
It will be next to the city of Sochi and their construction lies on Japanese hands.
A total of 10 islands, totaling 3,500 square meters of land will accommodate the Olympic village as well as some other Olympic buildings. The estimated cost of this comes up to $2.5 billion!
