Westport - A 3D city in Google Earth

On the 16th of January, Westport in Ireland will be one of the first complete 3D towns that will enter Google Earth’s database.
AMT3D created this 3D model of Westport after the town council hired them to do so in order to increase the tourist traffic.
On the 16th Google’s director, for Europe, Middle East and Africa, will travel to Westport to attend the special ceremony.
This move is expected to increase council interest around the world as having a 3D version of their town will make them somewhat more popular.

hello im from westport and i want to see westport on google earth but it is still the same 2d layer,do u know why it isnt working?

Hello Fiachra,
First of all get the layers version of Google Earth. Now over there there is a section called “Layers” on the bottom left side of the screen. There you will see stuff like “terrain”, “roads”, “places of interest” etc. One of these options is the “3D buildings. If you tick the box and wait a bit then all the buildings appear! When I said to wait a bit, its because it might take a while to download all the building info depending on your Internet speed.

MAGGIE, did you find in Google Earth a section called “Layers” on the bottom left side of the screen? In the “Layers” section there is a box called “3D buildings”, just tick the box and wait a bit…then all the buildings appear and you will see Westport in 3D!
